I've been earning my keep caretaking properties since 2014, first at a 100+ acre farm in upstate NY for 22 months, then at a new client’s 2nd home in woodsy NH for 5 months.
When a new property caretaking gig came up in sunny Santa Fe, I jumped at the chance to live and work in the city that had enchanted me after just 2 visits.
Since flying out for the house inspection in July 2016 and relocating a month later, I've been managing a long list of maintenance and remodel projects - big and small.
I'll continue to make the property perfect for when the homeowners retire and occupy their home in 2019, while also providing professional, reliable caretaker services for other Las Campanas and Aldea area homeowners (and enjoying the scenery and sunsets every step of the way).
I happily volunteered 1.5K+ hours as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), working directly with kids in foster care and helping with volunteer recruitment, community outreach, fundraising, and event planning.
Since being in Santa Fe, I've met some fantastic folks while volunteering for KSFR's fund drive, delivering meals on Thanksgiving, fostering 3 crazy cute kittens, and helping out at The Food Depot (TFD) every chance I get - bagging bulk food once a month, doing some heavy lifting at events like Canstruction, serving as a merchandise sales specialist at their super-cool Souper Bowl fundraiser, helping them raise $150K+ (in partnership with Communities in Schools) at the 2017 Mayor's Ball, as well as being trained as a proud TFD Community Advocate.
I heart volunteering.
Smart marketers know that our brains are wired to ignore the mundane and expected. They also know that if you want to stand out in a mass of mediocrity, you need to make an emotional connection with your audience. By applying those principles to tell career stories within resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles, I helped hundreds of clients make their dream transitions and advancements for nearly 12 years.
So, while continuing to have an awesome time working with some of my all-time favorite past clients and getting to know some rock-star new clients in order to help them tell their stories and stand out in a noisy world, I have begun winding down my career storytelling business, allowing me to help make marketing magic through creative copy and web content for various entrepreneurs doing kick-ass work.
After starting my career at an amazing non-profit, I worked short stints in corporate and government sectors before becoming an entrepreneur and habitual hustler in 2005.
I was the queen of side hustles for several years while building a business strong enough to take with me as I moved to 4 states over 3 1/2 years for property caretaking gigs.
And now, after deciding to wind down my career storytelling business and vetting a new business idea through the Santa Fe Business Incubator's (SFBI) pre-incubation program, I'm happily returning to side gigging and looking for ways I can benefit Santa Fe's entrepreneur and non-profit community through marketing, consulting, and misc project-based work.
I'm open to suggestions and hope to hear from you if you have any.
